Hoping For A Cold Front

Remember last week when I complained about the weather...???  This is me, still complaining about the weather, only now I've got a problem with the heat AND the rain.   91 degrees at almost 8 pm at the end of September...

...not exactly what I was hoping for.  Poor me, I know, haha.  I feel better now :-)

Over the weekend, we managed to find lots of time to get outside to look at the clouds...

... and ride our bikes...

We even found ourselves a new little racetrack to ride around...

...it's a good time.

Obviously, the pool was an unavoidable source of outdoor entertainment...

...we made sure to take advantage of the last day of the water park season...

...we will definitely be taking advantage of those passes again next year.

We also had some fun with friends at a bbq.  How cute are they all on the dock...

...we had such a nice time and thankfully there was a gorgeous breeze coming off the water...

This week brought lots of rain with it, but in between rain showers, we made it out for a few bike rides...

...and a couple of trips to the park...

...we had some good giggles when as we took cover under the pavilion when the rain snuck up on us...

In between all the rain, we were also able to get in both of our weekly story times.  The featured stories for our morning group were...

....the mermaid books was even more entertaining than I anticipated.  Kids are so intrigued by fantasy.  It's fun!

The evening group enjoyed....

...Eric Carle is always a hit.

THE highlight of our rainy week was a visit from my great aunt and uncle, the boys' great GREAT aunt and uncle.  It was incredibly special....

Some other random things that made me smile this week included the sunflowers a friend gave me that brightened up this dreary week...

...and this "picture" Colton made for Uncle Aaron's wedding...

...we just had to send him a picture of it :-).  It's fun to have them just as excited for the upcoming celebration as I am.  Happy weekend!!!!  I hear there's some cooler weather coming.  Here's to hoping we can get some temps in the low 70s sometime soon :-)...fingers crossed.

"C" Week

It's "C" week over here at Planker academy.  Here's a glimpse into some of the C-focused activities we've enjoyed...

C is for CIRCLE...

...which we used to make COLORFUL CATERPILLARS...

Of course we couldn't stop with just one...

CUTE, huh?  Our alphabet books are coming along nicely.

We read the Hungry Little CATERPILLAR by Eric Carle tons of times this week too.

C is also for CORK, which we used to paint fall trees...

....we had fun learning about fall trees as well.  There's a fantastic sesame street episode on deciduous trees which we enjoyed this week.  Made me want to get out of Florida for a bit this fall.  Anyways...

C is also far CAR.  We made a raceCAR of course and we've been playing with it all week...

Often the simplest things end up being the most fun.  Case in point...

...do you see that giant smile???  Love it!!!

Their favorite line is "Ladies and Gentleman, start your engines!"

I see a trip to a race track in their future :-)
C is also for CUPCAKES, which we made for our dear friend and music teacher's birthday...

These boys sure do love using the mixer...

...we made some banana muffins while we were at it too.  C is for CUP which we used to do our measuring.  Fractions were a bit advanced for us but we sure had fun dumping. :-)

C is also for CLOUD painting (just mix glue with shaving cream and have at it)...

...which we tied in with the book Little CLOUD by Eric Carle...

And last but not least, C is for COTTONBALL races...

...which we highly recommend.  SO FUN!!

I Like Our New Style

This was our first full week with our new laid-back attitude and I have to say, I like I our new style.

Monday, the boys made an adorable craft with their playgroup while I tackled some back-to-reality chores...

We had a very chilly, but very fun story time on Tuesday.  The featured stories were...

...these became favorites of my boys over the holidays.  We had a leisurely play date with friends afterwards.  It was LOVELY!

On Wednesday, we squeezed in an early morning trip to the park and had the place to ourselves...

...the first time on the tire swing was a huge hit!

We also had some delicious produce back in our lives on Wednesday from Annie's Organic Buying Club.  What a gift that little gig is to our family!  Thanks to them, we eat fresh, organic, delicious meals like this daily...

...talk about love in a bowl.  YUM!!

Thursday gave us some time to play at home...

...before heading to music class...

...bouncing balls on the drums was incredibly fun for the boys.  Balls AND drums...what's not to love??
Friday was our homebody day.  We enjoyed some winter crafts like these penguins...

...and some marshmallow snowmen...

...two thumbs up for entertaining, delicious fun!!

We also squeezed in another trip to the park and got to check out a train along the way...

...another added bonus to our week.

I've continued my love-hate relationship with Tony Horton and his P90X-3 workouts.  I especially love to hate the challenge workouts...

...one day I'll master more than one pull-up.  6 sets of 13 pushups isn't too shabby though...no knees either.  Baby steps!

Saturday I worked with a catering company at a beautiful shower that included this lovely cake...

...pressure's on for planning Abigail's shower.  I gotta tackle that ASAP!

Since the boys decided they weren't interested in a nap, we headed to Starbucks instead...

...I love that they love that place as much as I do.

Now we're at the end of the weekend.  Some sleepy boys kept us from getting to church this morning so we went for a run that ended at the park again instead...

...what can I say, we love the park.  I'll catch church online once it's posted.  Gotta love that!!

The beautiful day continued with lunch and ice cream with some of our favorite people including the boys adopted "big sister" ...

...not a bad way to spend a Sunday at all.  Time to enjoy a little more quiet before the boys wake up and we get ready for another fun-filled week to come.  Life is good!
