"D" week with a bonus lowercase c

We breezed right through lowercase c along with uppercase C last week since they look the same, ones just smaller.  Why can't they all be that way?  We did, however, neglect to make our lowercase c for our alphabet books so we made sure to tackle those this week as well.  The boys seemed to think it was necessary since every other letter so far had a partner.  We decided to go with a cat theme.  Mason clearly has Halloween on the brain but was worried people might not know it was a cat, thus the speech bubble to appease him...

...and Colton is a stickler for things being anatomically correct it seems.  He insisted on pink inside the ears and 4 legs for his cat...

...cute, right??

With lowercase c completed, we were ready to move on to uppercase.  D is for DINOSAUR...

...the boys are always happy to have a chance to cut...

...and sometimes cut everything they can get their hands on once they get those scissors in their hands.  We decided to take a tip from our friend Aunt Sheryl and make some fall leaves with the scraps.  It was fun!

We also made these fun DINOSAURS...

...using this template for inspiration.

We also had fun with DINOSAUR tracks with some play DOUGH...

...this activity actually got repeated several times because it was such a bit hit.  They started making tracks with all kinds of things and really had a great time with it.

D is also for DUCK who we love to visit...

...especially now that we are back on the bikes again...

...don't they look ready to conquer the world?  Love them!

D is also for DUNKIN DONUTS which the boy DEVOURED....

...and I DRAINED every last DROP of my DARK roast...

...it was the perfect afternoon pick-me-up.

D is also for DIGGING...

...by the way, this little concoction is really fun...8 cups flour mixed with 1 cup baby oil mixed by hand and then played with to your little heart's content.  The boys LOVED it!!  Thanks to the Preschool Journey for the idea.

Our field trips included 2 trips to the library to restock our stash of books...

...can you tell we're excited about the new season?   We also got some good DINOSAUR, DOG and DRAGON books to stick with the theme.  This list of suggestions was a great starting point.  You know us, we always veer off the path a bit and I'm absolutely ok with that.

We also made a trip down south to visit the sea life at the River Center...

...and Loggerhead Marinelife Center...

...and constitution park for the first time.  How great is this playground??....

...the picture seriously doesn't do it justice.  It is the best playground we've found in this vicinity by far.  We had fun just hanging out for a bit....

...and we will DEFINITELY be revisiting this park every time we're down that way from now on.

Can't wait to see what excitement we can find for lowercase d.  Stay tuned!

Self-Proclaimed Long Weekend

We kicked off our weekend right a little early with dinner out on Thursday night...nothing like getting a head start, huh??  Dining with these two goofballs never ceases to be an adventure...

...I'm pretty sure that cranberry juice was chock full of high fructose corn syrup cause the boys were bouncing off the walls.  Check out Mason's dancing hands...haha!

Friday's mellow mood carried over into Friday night...I wasn't kidding when I said we started our weekend early.  It was a lazy day with a post-flu shot stop at the coffee shop, a visit with a good friend, and a quiet night at home with my boys.  This is how one of our boys chose to watch his show...

...oh my!  They sure do love being naked.

Saturday got off to a rainy start so I ditched my plans for a workout and had some crafting fun with the boys instead.  Check out our monsters...

...fun, huh?

We finally got motivated to go get some breakfast and run a couple of errands, which included picking up the mugs we made with Abigail last week at Stuart Ceramics...

...they're a big hit with the boys and I have to admit they turned out pretty well...

...we're looking forward to going back closer to Christmas to make some ornaments.

We spent most of the rest of our day around the house.  I tackled some piyo and did a little more crafting with the boys...ghosts this time...

....can you tell we're excited for Halloween?

I finished out my night with a girls night out to celebrate my birthday.  It was fun to get out and chat it up with my girlfriends.  They're such a fun group...

...never underestimate the power of fellow mom friends.  They are an incredible support group and a ton of fun too.

This mornings better weather called for a morning run with the boys.  I may or may not have bribed them with a promised stop at Dunkin donuts.  :-)  I got my sweat on while my boys ate donuts...I know it's not the healthiest thing for them but I'm pretty sure we all had a great time.

Don't worry, they got their exercise too later in the pool while I kicked up my feet and watched them :-)  Now it's time to curl up on the couch with my man and watch the Dolphins game while chowing down these wings and blue cheese...

....our last hurrah before we tackle the whole30 tomorrow...I guess you could call it a whole30 eve :-).  This time, my man's along for the ride too.  Fingers crossed we make it.  Happy football Sunday!!

I Like Our New Style

This was our first full week with our new laid-back attitude and I have to say, I like I our new style.

Monday, the boys made an adorable craft with their playgroup while I tackled some back-to-reality chores...

We had a very chilly, but very fun story time on Tuesday.  The featured stories were...

...these became favorites of my boys over the holidays.  We had a leisurely play date with friends afterwards.  It was LOVELY!

On Wednesday, we squeezed in an early morning trip to the park and had the place to ourselves...

...the first time on the tire swing was a huge hit!

We also had some delicious produce back in our lives on Wednesday from Annie's Organic Buying Club.  What a gift that little gig is to our family!  Thanks to them, we eat fresh, organic, delicious meals like this daily...

...talk about love in a bowl.  YUM!!

Thursday gave us some time to play at home...

...before heading to music class...

...bouncing balls on the drums was incredibly fun for the boys.  Balls AND drums...what's not to love??
Friday was our homebody day.  We enjoyed some winter crafts like these penguins...

...and some marshmallow snowmen...

...two thumbs up for entertaining, delicious fun!!

We also squeezed in another trip to the park and got to check out a train along the way...

...another added bonus to our week.

I've continued my love-hate relationship with Tony Horton and his P90X-3 workouts.  I especially love to hate the challenge workouts...

...one day I'll master more than one pull-up.  6 sets of 13 pushups isn't too shabby though...no knees either.  Baby steps!

Saturday I worked with a catering company at a beautiful shower that included this lovely cake...

...pressure's on for planning Abigail's shower.  I gotta tackle that ASAP!

Since the boys decided they weren't interested in a nap, we headed to Starbucks instead...

...I love that they love that place as much as I do.

Now we're at the end of the weekend.  Some sleepy boys kept us from getting to church this morning so we went for a run that ended at the park again instead...

...what can I say, we love the park.  I'll catch church online once it's posted.  Gotta love that!!

The beautiful day continued with lunch and ice cream with some of our favorite people including the boys adopted "big sister" ...

...not a bad way to spend a Sunday at all.  Time to enjoy a little more quiet before the boys wake up and we get ready for another fun-filled week to come.  Life is good!
