New Jammies, Monkey Hats, Silly Boys and Some Fun in the Kitchen

For some reason I woke up bright and early this morning and couldn't seem to go back to sleep.  I got up, did my devotion while drinking some Intelligentsia coffee, and decided to seize the opportunity to get in a workout before the boys woke up.  This morning's Best Body Bootcamp workout was NO JOKE.  What a great workout.  8 exercises, 100 reps each, enough said.  PHEW!  I was kind of on a workout high after that and wanted to get in a run while we had a nice chill in the air so I loaded up the boys once they woke up and we hit the road for a quick 25 minute trot.  It was WINDY out there!  We're so spoiled here in south Florida.  55 is COLD!  Check out how cute the boys are all bundled up for our outing...

They were still waking up.  Haha.

When we got home, I took advantage of the extra time to tryd out a new recipe for protein pancakes and was very happy with the results.

I subbed 1/3 cup coconut flour, 1/3 cup oats, and 1/3 cup white wheat flour for the 1 cup of oat flour and almond milk for the coconut milk.  They were the fluffiest protein pancakes I've ever made.   I'm so glad there are leftovers for tomorrow.  Thanks Oxygen magazine!!!

While I was cooking, the boys were playing with my shoes.  The combination of the monkey hats, colorful jammies and giant running shoes brought a smile to my face.

They couldn't get enough of their hats, I mean, seriously, who can blame them?  Needless to say, they spent most of the morning playing in them...

Mason's in the blue for a change.  Keeping you on your toes...he wanted the octopus jammies.

We love our new jammies from Aunt Abigail by the way too.  If you want monkey hats, they can be found at my friend, Katy's, etsy store here.  She is SOOO talented.

Once we were all presentable for the day, we joined our friends at the library for the Family Place.  Today the boys tried out the puppets...

and the blocks...

We also couldn't resist the musical instruments...

We ran a couple of the errands on our list quickly after our playtime before I got hungry and decided to drag us home.  We can take care of the rest of the stuff this weekend.

While the boys napped, I did a little cleaning before finally playing around with a new recipe for protein balls in the kitchen.  Today was a  good day for trying out new recipes.  Yum!

I made these balls of deliciousness by combining the following in my ninja before rolling the mixture into balls:
  • 1/2 cup almond slivers
  • 1/3 cup craisins
  • 3 scoops Sunwarrior brown rice protein powder
  • 4 T agave
  • 4 large dates
  • 1/4 cup oats
I'm storing them in the fridge and I must say, they're even better cold.  The boys even like them.  Bonus!!

My day was capped off by the blessing of a wonderful friend watching the boys so I could sit on the beach with another fabulous friend for a bit (it was a little cold but it sure was beautiful out there) before grabbing some sushi and catching a peak of the sunset.  I don't know what I'd do without all fo the wonderful people in my life.  I'm looking forward to a carefree weekend with my boys.
