Cash Mob, Rest Day, and Randomness

Last night, I joined a friend for a Cash Mob to benefit the local food bank.  It included a phenomenal dinner and drink at Osceola Street Cafe (I had some yummy maple salmon, asparagus and mashed potatoes...YUM!), dessert from Hoffman's (dark chocolate...DELISH!) , and a final cocktail at Duffys (red wine :-).  The event was great and I'll definitely be signing up for the next one they throw,  but the best part of it was the company.  I am so blessed by my girlfriends...especially this one!  Hope she doesn't mind that I stole her picture.

While I was enjoying a night out, Mickey was home for boys' night. Check out these cuties.  I'm pretty sure the boys were having more fun than their daddy was.  He's a trooper.

Despite a later than usual night, I was up early and had a new plan of attack for the morning...skip the coffee, do my reading as a warm-up on the elliptical, and be back home before the sun was up and the boys were awake.  SUCCESS!  I was able to do my reading, get in 45 easy minutes on the elliptical (today's supposed to be a rest day but I like active rest...no pounding), a quick chest and back workout, and still made it home before sunrise which left Mickey enough time to get some yard work done while I made breakfast and tackled the onslaught of two freshly awake toddlers.  Bring on the coffee and the crazies!

This is the chest and back workout I did this morning at the gym.  It only took me about 15 minutes.  Easy breezy...

This morning I tried out some Soyrizo (vegetarian chorizo) I found on my disastrous Wal-Mart adventure. It was suprisingly delicious in scrambled eggs.  We had a little hummus on toast on the side. My husband devoured every last bite right along with me.  There's hope for this vegan lifestyle after all.  Now just to find a good scrambled egg substitute...suggestions?

I'm so happy it's Labor Day weekend which means 3 full days with the whole family together.  I'm also looking forward to my 7 mile run tomorrow.  Maybe I'll leave the boys with their daddy and Oma who's here for a weekend visit and just enjoy the solo ride.  We'll see...

One last thing...I've been selected by Kiwi Magazine to be a Green Mom Ambassador.  If you're a local mom who's interested in trying out green products and providing feedback, let me know in the comments section below.  It's free and sounds like it could be lots of fun.

These crazy boys are going to love all the new stuff we try out.  I just know it.

Happy Friday!!  Don't forget to MOVE this weekend...and RELAX too.  It is Labor Day Weekend after all...

  1. I am definitely interested in trying out some of the "green" product samples. How much weight did you use for the workout and could you review what a "superset" is sometime? Great Post! Your friend has great taste in friends! :)

  2. Awesome. I hope we discover some great products together. I used 20 pound dumbbells for the free weight exercises. On the assisted pull-ups and dips, I had the pin at 14. I wish I knew what that meant... For the seated row I did 75 lbs and for the incline press I think I used 40 lbs. I'll write it down next time.

Supersets are two exercises done back to back without resting in between. You can superset in lots of different ways. In this example, I supersetted opposing muscles--back and chest. I'll explain more with some other future posts. Great idea.
