"G" Week

It has been so gorgeous outside that we've had a hard time staying inside to do any kind of "school" and instead of making excuses for not tackling it, I finally decided to just get a little creative.  We kicked off our G with with a scavenger hunt to look for as many Gs as we could find around downtown.  This way we could get some fresh air and exercise while familiarizing ourselves with the letter, in lots of different fonts by the way too.  Here's a glimpse into some of our findings...

...this was WAY more exciting than I ever anticipated.  We will definitely be repeating this activity.  I had no idea how tricky the lowercase g can be in so many different fonts.  It was a good reminder to show them a variety of styles of each letter.

We also made our own G is for goldfish crafts...

...that ended up looking like this...

...I had hoped they'd look more like this...

...but the boys clearly had something else in mind :-)

We also repeated our goldfish counting game...

...what's not to love about an edible counting activity?

Another big hit was the G puzzle compliments of this site that we cut apart and then put back together...

...we're still working on cutting skills but they're coming along and Colton was able to put his back together...

...Mason initially cut his well and then decided cutting it into teeny tiny pieces was WAY more fun.  I kind of agree :-)

We also did a G maze...

The In my World Blog provided some serious inspiration this week :-).  Check her blog out!

We also made lowercase gs with GREEN GRASS.  Not surprisingly, GLUING and cutting were the highlights of the project....

...and here's the finished project...

We also made some GOBBLING turkeys out of toilet paper rolls and cupcake liners...

...and as always, there were lots of GIGGLES...

...as well as lots of books, lots of ABC mouse, some fun shows, and the usual.
