Fourth of July Weekend - Planker Style

I love when holidays land on Fridays.  You get to celebrate ALLLL weekend long!  We had a blast spending our Fourth of July weekend with family, enjoying a sort of staycation.

The boys and I kicked off the 4th with a run to the bagel shop while Mickey worked in the yard.  If felt good to get in a little exercise to kick off a weekend I knew would be filled with indulgence.  I rounded up my workout with a little PiYo and then it was go-time for the weekend.  First stop - the beachfront condo my sister-in-law and her family were staying at in Fort Pierce.

After some fun at the pool, it was lunch-time and we headed off to Archie's.  Mickey had a little too much fun with the peppers that came with the fried pickles...

...and the boys got a kick posing as pirates before we left...

The food was good but it was extremely hot that day and outdoor dining might not have been the smartest choice with four kiddos in tow.  Live and learn...

We headed home for nap time to re-energize before headed down to Star Spangled Stuart.  They put together a great kids zone with bounce houses, face painting, and entertainment.  The boys finally braved the bounce house slide...

...licked on some popsicles...

...and as usual, they were big fans of the room to fun...

Check out how cute Mason was in his America duds...

...he sure does love accessories :-)  Colton was pretty cute too...he convinced us that his Star Wars shirt was a good "America" shirt too...Choose your battles, right?!

I think the overall highlight of the whole evening for these group of boys was found under the dinner table...

...they couldn't get enough of their little cave.  Silly boys!!  Don't they look like they could all be brothers??  It was so fun to see them all play together this week.  Cousins are the best!!

The boys braved the fireworks...

...and wove their flags proudly.  One day maybe they'll get excited about the loud noises...

...at least they didn't mind that the show was half as long as it was supposed to be...

I sure was glad the temperature dropped over 20 degrees that day, thanks to the storm that blew threw...

...it was a Fourth of July miracle, if you ask me ;-).

We spent the rest of the weekend soaking up pool time...

...and cousin time (ice cream included :-) )...

(check out Colton's wrench tucked into the back of his pants...silly boy!!)

Before we knew it, it was Sunday morning and time to say goodbye to everyone.  We're already looking forward to our next get-together.  I'm so glad our families have such a good time together.  I have a feeling it's only going to get better as our kiddos get older.

We had one last hurrah to our weekend...

...before winding down at home Sunday night with some legos and chores as we geared up for a return to reality on Monday...

Hope your Fourth of July was as fabulous as ours.
