Highlights of Our Week So Far

Our lives have felt nonstop since last Saturday.  It seems like there's always something on the calendar. Better busy than bored, right??  Haha!  We finally caught a bit of a breather today, thus the opportunity for a blog post.  Here are some highlights from the last few days...

Monday morning kicked off with play group for the boys while I ran errands.  While I was there, they made these adorable flowers for me...
...I tell Mickey not to bother with flowers for me, but I'll take flowers like these from my boys ANY day.  So SWEET!

We followed up play group with a visit to All About Achieving for a reading seminar for parents of pre-schoolers.  They had some lego fun for the kids during the presentation...cool stuff.  I left feeling very encouraged that the boys are right on track for Reading success.  Made me feel good.  That place is cool!   I will definitely be pouncing on any future opportunities there.

We missed Mickey for lunch but he left cute smiley faces for the boys to come home to...

...it made their day.  So sweet!

Tuesday morning kicked off with story time.  We had a great turnout and the featured stories were...

...as you can see, it was a Denise Fleming kind of day.  The boys LOVE that Alphabet Under Construction book.

We followed up story time with a few quick errands before a trip to the beach...

...it has been ABSOLUTELY gorgeous there lately.  I could go every day.

When they refused to nap, we loaded up the stroller...

...works every time.  I got in 7 easy miles, more sunshine and fresh air, and they got a great nap.  Win-win.

Wednesday we kicked off our morning with some fresh juice...

...and spent the morning close to home taking care of our usual produce Annie's Organic Produce day duties...

...the boys are actually starting to become helpful with the whole process which is nice.  Once everything was organized, we spent the rest of our morning playing outside...

...as long as they have trucks, they're happy.  Colton needed his necklace yesterday too :-)

Mason must have got the accessory memo eventually too because he rocked his raccoon hat for quite a while inside...

...too cute!

Wednesday's fun really began that night when we got to get all dolled up for a night out compliments of Mickey's employer...

...it was fun to get all dressed up, eat fancy food kid-free, hear Jimbo Fisher, the coach at FSU speak, and then dance a bit on the dance floor.

Today we've been taking it easy.  We played outside, potty breaks included, lol...

...made a quick trip to Publix, played outside some more, took some silly selfies...

...and took a little tour of the neighborhood via tricycle...

...of course some detours were involved...

...and Colton brought a beetle along for the ride that he had to come checking on...

...I have a feeling this is only just the beginning of creatures joining in on our adventures.  Oh, the joys of being a boy mom...times two.  God is good!!!

Building, Pirate Parties, the Beach, and More

Our weekend began with this little discovery in our front yard...

...someone bashed our mailbox.  Mickey says not to take it personally, but I have a hard time not being angry about it.  I don't get vandalism AT ALL.  I can't wrap my brain around finding fun in destroying other people's property.  GRRR!!!

Life goes on though, and we headed off for a fun building project before that unplanned repair project.  This month's crane hook game was a fun one at Lowes...

...The boys pretend their finger is a crane hook all the time when they pick things up so they thought a real crane hook was pretty darn cool.

After our project we had some time to kill before a little birthday party so we tackled some errands at the mall.  Holy cow is that easier with Mickey along.  It was actually kind of fun...lol.

Once everything was checked off the list, we headed over to the children's museum for a friend's birthday party.  Needless to say, we had a blast...

...needless to say, we had a blast at the pirate-themed bash at such a fun place.

The rest of our day was pretty low key...got in a little P90X3, played outside, made homemade pizzas and watched a movie.  Bliss!

Sunday kicked off with church before heading over to the Empty Bowls project at St. Marys.  If you missed it this year, you must check it out next year.  It's such a fantastic event with all proceeds supporting local soup kitchens and you get to bring home a handmade artisan bowl too.  Good stuff.

After devouring some yummy soup, we headed down south for the rest of the morning.  We hit up a new to me store...

...where I resisted buying everything in sight and stuck to the plan other than a little impulsive shirt purchase.  That store is great for accessorizing any occasion.  I am a HUGE fan and can't believe this was the first time I'd been there.

Then it was off to the beach in Jupiter until the rain chased us off.  Bummer!

The boys passed out in the car on the way home...

so we drove around for a bit and then finally hit up Duffy's for a very late lunch in a very sunny spot outside...

...no rain up in Stuart.  Maybe we should have gone to the beach there.  Oh well...it was a fun day regardless.  I love our family time on the weekends.  It recharges me for the week and I need all the recharging I can get.

The Long Short Week

For a short work week, it sure has felt like a long week (I guess I really never get a short week from being a parent, but at least I've got a partner in the gig when the work week is short.)  The week felt especially long thanks to a certain two boys decided to resist naps a couple of days this week.  Nap-time is my sanity saver.  When nap time fails, its the stroller to the rescue.  I can't believe I ever hesitated on purchasing this beast...

The boys are almost 3 and it still works like a charm as long as I keep it moving.  I was lucky enough to log 4 runs this week so far and am hoping for another tomorrow sometime.  They really are the best running group.  Can you tell these boys were ready for a nap??

It hasn't been all doom and gloom this week though.  Our garden is off to a great start, regardless of the fact that we've only been at it for a week...

...the boys love tending to it...

...it's our version of science class :-)

The boys have gotten in some great play time both at home...

...and at the park...

Colton takes his climbing VERY seriously...

They spent A LONG time racing their trucks down the slides, then chasing down after them...

We also got to check out some work vehicles on the train tracks...boy heaven!

Also in typical boy form, they did some repair work to the truck at the park...

We finally painted our Chinese New Years dragons...

...and Colton decided to paint a streak in his hair too.  He's kind of fallen in love with it and has been making Mickey wash around it at bath time.  I'm worried for when they're teens...hopefully they're getting it out of their systems now...

The boys did some landscaping work around the property too...

If you need coconut removal, they're your guys...

They've been really interested in helping out in the kitchen.  One morning, Colton made his own scrambled egg...

...with help, or course.

We've also been really into the legos this week...

We made our weekly trip to the library to stock up on books.  I love watching the boys explore them together.  By the end of a week of having the books at home, they can pretty much read them all themselves...memorized, of course, not actually reading...

We checked out a new library this week, the one in Jensen Beach, where they had some discovery bins we had some fun with...

What's not to love about bugs and dinos??

They also had a computer there that caught the boys' attention....I still have mixed emotions about kids and electronics.  They're such zombies when they come into contact with computers and it's SOOO hard to disengage...

I'm old school, I know.  But a lot of times, old schools not so bad, is it??

Not only did we check out a new library, we checked out a new park too...

The park under the Jensen Beach causeway is FANTASTIC!  Great equipment, great view, no sand and incredible breezes...

We'll be back for sure!
This morning was spent with a couple little friends of ours...

...I got my baby fix, that's for sure.  I had fun but think I'll wait just a little bit longer for baby number 3.  I'll be ready one day though...the kids sure were cute all together.
